Reddit Sues Perplexity for Scraping Data to Train AI System

Reddit has sued AI startup Perplexity and three other firms, accusing them of illegally scraping its data to train Perplexity’s AI search engine. The complaint claims the companies bypassed Reddit’s protections to steal data needed for Perplexity’s “answer engine.” This case joins a growing list of lawsuits by content owners over unauthorised use of copyrighted material to train AI.

The listing suggests both models will debut in the country soon. The Indian variants are expected to mirror their Chinese counterparts in most features but may see minor tweaks, particularly in battery capacity, as Chinese OEMs often offer slightly smaller batteries in Indian versions.

It is offered in four colourways and a special edition in the country. The flagship handset is expected to be unveiled in India in similar colour options. The Vivo sub-brand has yet to reveal the exact launch date.
